2. Kim's Convenience (Season 4)

Kim's Convenience is the funny, heartfelt story of the Kims, a Korean-Canadian family running a convenience store in downtown Toronto. Stream previous seasons for free here on CBC Gem. 

3. Catastrophe (Season 2)

Clumsy lust, instant pregnancy, and genuine disaster provide the foundation for this flaming hovel of a relationship. Rob Delaney (comedian and best-selling author) and Sharon Horgan (award-winning actress and star/co-writer of Pulling) write and star in Catastrophe, a comedy following an Irish woman and an American man who make a bloody mess as they struggle to fall in love in London. 

4. Fortunate Son 

New episode every Wednesday at 9p.m.

This new CBC original spy drama set in the late 1960s explores Canadian history that hasn't been reflected in Canadian television thus far. It is based on a true story at a time of global political and social upheaval, when a CIA operative was planted within Tom Cox's family to spy on his parent's activities. Starring Kari Matchett, Darren Mann, and Stephen Moyer, Fortunate Son tells the story of a family divided by a mother's deeply held commitment to activism, and the personal cost it exacts on those she loves. 

5. Burden of Truth (Season 3)

New episode every Wednesday at 8 p.m. starting Jan. 8.

Burden of Truth is back! Season 3 picks up one year later, with Joanna Chang (Kristin Kreuk) and Billy Crawford (Peter Mooney) working together in their new boutique law firm, Crawford-Chang, on a new exciting case. But they're discovering that living and litigating together has its challenges. Stream previous seasons for free here on CBC Gem. 

6. Coroner (Season 2)

New episode every Monday beginning Jan. 6.

This edgy crime drama follows Toronto coroner, Jenny, who has a strange connection to the dead. She seeks justice for their cases, all while trying to balance her personal relationships and challenges. Stream previous seasons for free here on CBC Gem. 

7. Wisting 

All episodes available Jan. 24.

Set in the unique and stunning landscape of Norway, this series follows homicide detective William Wisting (Sven Nordin, Lilyhammer) as he wrestles with the most challenging and shocking case of his career: a wanted American serial killer living in the small coastal town of Larvik. On a yachting holiday from Darwin to Indonesia, five Australians come across a broken-down fishing boat, full of desperate asylum seekers. The Australians decide to help, towing the refugees, but when they wake the next morning, the fishing boat is gone. Five years later, they meet some of the refugees again and learn the truth of what happened. Old secrets come to light, relationships are shattered and lives are put in danger. And one question hangs over it all — who cut the rope?

9. Endlings

Two new episodes every Sundays at 6 p.m. 

Set 20 years in the future, Endlings is the empowering story of four teenagers in foster care who discover they're not alone in the universe, even though sometimes it can feel like they are. 

10. The Durrells (Season 4)

The future's looking bright for the eccentric Durrells, as we catch up with their lives on the beautiful island of Corfu. They're each channelling their heartbreak in different ways following the events in Season 3.

Louisa's keeping busy by opening the doors of the family villa as a guest house, but with cousin Basil her only paying guest, business isn't exactly booming. Larry's struggling to get his risqué Black Book published and enjoying love with two ballet dancers, while Leslie's throwing himself back into his job (and shooting). Animal-mad Gerry now has ambitions to open his own zoo, and Margo's up for another new challenge as she decides to start her own beauty salon.

11. The Detectives (Season 3)

Premieres Thursday, January 9 at 9 p.m. (9:30 NT) on CBC. 

The Detectives is a gripping eight-part series that brings to life the work of real detectives by blending the best of documentary storytelling with fully dramatized re-enactments.

12. High Arctic Haulers

Premieres Sunday, January 5 at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) 

Canada's resilient, vibrant northern communities and the determined men and women help provide their lifeline to the outside world. These groups are linked together by the summer sealift, when ships loaded with critical cargo travel each year to the farthest reaches of the north to deliver food, clothing, supplies and vital pieces of infrastructure.

The wildly popular animated movie featuring the voices of Dustin Hoffman, Jack Black and Angelina Jolie is coming to CBC Gem on Jan. 19.

16. Weirdos

In a small Nova Scotia town in 1976, when 15-year-old Kit (Dylan Authors, The Mist) decides that living with his father is too repressive, he hits the road with his girlfriend Alice (Julia Sarah Stone, Honey Bee) and hitchhikes to the big city of Sydney to move in with his glamorous but unstable mother (Molly Parker, Deadwood). The journey becomes one of self-discovery that opens them up to new possibilities for their futures, all in an attempt to find a place to call home.

17. Charley Pride: I'm Just Me

Coming to CBC Gem on Jan. 31, just in time for Black History Month. 

Explore the complicated history of the American South and its music through the life of country star Charley Pride. Raised in segregated Mississippi, his journey shows the ways that artistic expression can triumph over prejudice and injustice

18. My Life Without Me 

Coming to CBC Gem on Jan. 16.

Sarah Polley and Mark Ruffalo, My Life Without Me tells a story of a 23-year-old wife and mother who finds out she is going to die soon.  

19. Eadweard

Coming to CBC Gem on Jan. 31.

Michael Eklunds stars in this psychological drama centered around world-famous 'godfather of cinema', turn-of-the-century photographer Eadweard Muybridge, who photographed nude and deformed subjects, and became the godfather of cinema while his relationship with his wife dissolved.
