Camila's baking hobby developed into a full-blown passion since arriving in Canada. She is eager to bring the flavours from home and experiences from her world travels to the tent.
When did you start baking? I used to do a lot of boxed bakes back home and help my mom out with things when I lived in Colombia. I only started baking more seriously when I moved to Canada and I finally found out a cup is an actual measurement and not just some random cup in your house! No wonder my recipes back home would fail so much. Here, a close friend baked as well, and we started encouraging each other to bake more and more. With the pandemic, it definitely ramped up!
What's your signature bake? Macarons! They're my favourite treat, so they wound up being what I made the most. They're usually expensive to buy, so I love being able to share them.
Why do you think you can be Canada's Best Amateur Baker? I'm trying my best to be! It really is a labour of love and patience, but I know every other baker is working just as hard as I am.
