'Something bad is coming.' Painful memories interrupt a moment of joy in 'Bones of Crows'
In one bittersweet scene, Director Marie Clements shares how fears cloud a happy moment
Based on real events, Bones of Crows is an epic story of resilience told through the eyes of Cree matriarch Aline Spears. She and her siblings are taken from their home in Manitoba and forced into Canada's residential school system.
As a young adult, Aline enlists to serve Canada during World War II. That's where she meets and marries her husband Adam Whallach, also a residential school survivor.
In this video, writer and director Marie Clements breaks down a poignant scene where a pregnant Aline shares her concerns and fears for their child's future.
