Run the Burbs is back for more 'Phamily' time with Season 3
Andrew Pham and his loveable family and friends are back for more fun times in Rockridge.
Where did we leave off?
When we left the Phams at the end of Run the Burbs Season 2, Andrew achieved his long-awaited dream job as the Community Development Coordinator for Rockridge. Meanwhile, Cam Pham Eats soars to new heights, and Camille vies for the opportunity to host a weekly cooking segment on a national morning show. Khia, now 17, was starting to reconcile with Mannix and got a new job at Bubble Bae. Leo, now a gloriously pubescent 13, was embracing the challenges of "that grown-up life," sporting a budding mustache.
New stories from Rockridge
As we dive into Run the Burbs Season 3, the Phams face a new set of challenges and hilarity. Andrew, now settled in his role, grapples with office chaos and bribery attempts while adjusting to the fact that his kids are becoming more independent, altering his vision of "Phamily" time. And Camille, now the featured chef on "Good Morning, Gloria," struggles to find work-life balance as her career takes off.
The Pham siblings, Khia and Leo, continue to thrive. Leo is becoming a teen and Khia is almost a high school graduate. Growing up brings a new set of challenges for this brother-sister duo this season.
Series co-creator Scott Townend commented, "When you're lucky enough to get a third season, it's an opportunity to dive deeper. To explore the characters that you already know and love in a more meaningful way. With the Phams, that means we get to explore more cultural stories; to expand on the never-ending ridiculousness of life in the suburbs; and to lean into the comedy that comes from an ever-evolving family. We really wanted to explore how this aspirational family deals with change."
Season 3 of Run the Burbs premieres Tuesday, January 9 on CBC Gem, and on CBC TV at 9:30 p.m.. Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream now on CBC Gem and FAST channel CBC Comedy.
Who is in Run the Burbs Season 3?
Andrew Phung is Andrew Pham
Andrew is an extroverted, emotional and loving family man with an eye on keeping his Rockridge community thriving. His philosophy is: "Go big or go even bigger, baybay!"
Rakhee Morzaria is Camille Pham
Camille is a strong-willed woman who started her career in HR and was the primary breadwinner for the Pham household for years. Now, she's following her passion and building a food empire.
Zoriah Wong is Khia Pham
Khia is cool, artistic, sometimes sarcastic, and always looking to get involved in social justice issues. She's never afraid to take a stand, whether it's creating a political statement through her art, or reminding her parents that they just aren't that young anymore with her classic, withering teen delivery.
Roman Pesino is Leo Pham
A precocious, newly-minted teen, Leo loves being a Pham and is often the voice of reason in their household. He'll also be navigating some big changes this season.
The people in their lives
The Phams have a number of family, friends, frenemies, and aquaintances as they live their life in the burbs. In Run the Burbs Season 3 Look for Ali Hassan as Camille's father, and beloved "Phamily" member, Ramesh. Camille's best friend Sam is also back, played by breakout YouTube star and comedian Julie Nolke. Andrew's best friend and affable next-door neighbour also returns in the new season, played once again by Johnathan Langdon. And Chris Locke returns as another of the Pham's neighbours, the loveably eccentric Sebastian.
Samantha Wan is back as Bubble Bae owner, Cathy, Simone Miller returns as Mannix, and Gavin Crawford is the often nemesis and anti-Andrew, public servant, Bob.
We also see Sharjil Rasool as Nikhil, Camille's cousin and Andrew's brother-in-law who has become a bigger part of the Pham's lives, Kimberly Ann Truong as Andrew's successful sister (she's a doctor, you know.) Last but certainly not least are Pierre Duong & Christine Nguyen who are back as Andrew's loveable parents Danh and Linh.
At the end of the day, Run the Burbs is a show that is always grounded in love of family and community, offering audiences a place to escape and connect with that's ruled by kindness and fun.
