Heartland's youngest stars: The twins who play Lyndy grow up on the show
Meet Ruby and Emmanuella who are the 8-year-old twins that share the role of Lyndy Borden on Heartland
Ruby and Emmanuella (Emmy) Spencer are 8-year-old identical twins who share the role of Lyndy Borden on CBC's Heartland.
They were born in Calgary, Alberta and because their mom is Australian, they have dual citizenship there. They also have an older sister, Isla and a younger brother, Finn.
Ruby and Emmy first appeared on the show as babies and have grown up on screen. They love being on set and playing make-believe for the camera. Heartland is a huge part of their lives.
The twins have a close relationship with their TV mom Amy (played by Amber Marshall) and they often visit Amber on her farm to see all the animals. They have learned to ride and love being with the horses on set!
The girls are happy and outgoing and look forward to having many more adventures on the show.
We caught up with them this summer on set for a quick chat.
Which character would you want to be most like when you grow up?
Ruby: Amber. Because she's smart, brave and helpful.
Emmy: Yep. And she's so nice.
Do you love horses in real life?
Emmy and Ruby (together): Yes, we love them.
Who is your favourite horse?
Emmy: All of them.
What's your favourite thing to do on Heartland?
Ruby: Ride the horses.
What's the best acting tip you've ever received?
Emmy and Ruby: Not to look at the camera.
What's it like to see yourself on TV?
Ruby: Kind of cool. It's like a mirror.
Emmy: It's like I'm seeing three.
What do you hope your character Lyndy gets to do on the show?
Ruby: So when she's asleep, she has a nightmare, wakes up, and there's another Lyndy standing there.
Emmy: And it can be me!
Ruby: And we get to act together.
