What happened to these popular 'Family Feud Canada' winners?
Our favourite fams dish on their most memorable moments and how they spent their winnings!
If you've been wondering what some of our most popular families have been up to since their episode aired, you're in luck! We've caught up with some of your favourite Family Feud Canada teams to dish on their most memorable moments from the show, and what they did with their winnings.
Fleet Family
"It was an accomplishment that we could have only dreamed of back when we first auditioned!" said team captain Rob.
As one of the first families to appear on Family Feud Canada, the Fleets kicked off the series in style, being not only the first family to win $10,000 during premiere week, but also the first to win $30,000 — making them the most successful team in Family Feud Canada history! They set the bar high!
Most memorable moment
"[My] most memorable moment had to be the initial win with 44 on the money. The rush was amazing and getting to relive it again with family members when it aired gave me chills," says Dave.
Wendy says her most memorable part of the series was seeing inside the CBC studios, seeing the plaques that lined the halls and knowing the vast history of the shows produced there.
Rob said he still laughs at the inside jokes the family had with each other on set.
"Dave told me before I went backstage for fast money that he would 'jump over the podium' if we got $10,000. I remember telling him, 'No, if you break the set, it will probably cost us $10,000 to fix. AND I paid a lot of money for that suit, so don't split your pants!'"
Wouldn't THAT have been a sight to see!
So...what did you do with the money?
For the Fleets, the winnings could not have come at a better time. COVID-19 lockdowns began around the time their episode aired, and both Andrew and Wendy were laid off from their jobs.
Their share of the winnings helped them stay afloat as they looked for new work, and they were still able to donate a portion to "charities close to our hearts."
Like a lot of Canadians, they've had to pivot during the pandemic, but they've been fortunate to find new, meaningful work in their communities. "Giving back remains a key component of who we are," says Wendy.
Nash Family
The Nash family came on the scene deep into our second season of Family Feud Canada. Similar to the Fleets, they dominated each round effortlessly as a team.
Since their big debut, the Nash family has been keeping themselves busy. Jerett and Austin have moved to Alberta and are now training horses. With help from her winnings, Amanda bought her first house and is now starting a hobby farm!
A once in a lifetime opportunity turned into a lifetime memory for the entire Nash family. "The entire Family Feud Canada experience was truly unforgettable and it means the world to us to have been able to not only participate, but win as well. Everyone from the production staff to the assistants were incredible and we had the best time," says Amanda.
Amanda also spoke on the community support that the Nash family received throughout the whole audition and filming process. "The support and fanfare we've received from friends and family has been overwhelming. I think we had three to four different viewing parties! It was a once in a lifetime experience and we are so grateful we were able to do it!"
The Nash family left with not only bragging rights, but some hard earned cash to back it up!
Chin Family
One of our most cheerful families yet, the Chins had a run to remember on the Feud. The team — consisting of team captain Kristi, their dad Kirk, brothers Mark, Tyler and Andre — say they were proud to represent their Jamaican-Chinese heritage.
Kristi says that one of her most memorable moments was when Gerry Dee predicted their Fast Money win.
"When Gerry bet on our family winning our fast money round, it made winning that $10,000 even sweeter! He then signed the fast money game card and gave it to us after which was really special."
Patty party for the gang!
The Chins split their winnings six ways — which included their mom who was not a player on the show but who encouraged the family to audition. So far, Tyler bought a bicycle and Kirk bought an ATV, but the family also wants to have a Jamaican patty party for their friends and extended family in the near future!
Since their three-day winning streak on the Feud, Tyler has been finishing up his economics degree and Kristi has also been finishing up her PhD in Psychology. The other family members have been busy with their life projects, too!
Andre is growing his YouTube channel of DIY sewing projects and Marc has been working on [M]POWER UP, his fitness training program. Kristi adds: "Our dad has continued training police officers at the Toronto Police College and has been enjoying the outdoors, including hunting and riding his ATV!"
The family says they feel lucky and blessed for the opportunity to have played on the Feud in the first place.
"Winning any money is fantastic, but the experience of playing together as a family is one in a million and we will always look back fondly on our time on Family Feud Canada. It is now one of our most cherished memories as a family."
