Although the path of every actor — and the reasons they choose or get roles — may differ, most need to have the ability to transform on screen and adopt alternate personalities as well as looks. The process of getting into character can sometimes be arduous. Some actors will shave their head for a role or stay in character for the duration of filming, and some will take it to extremes and augment their bodies — losing an unhealthy amount of weight, getting their teeth pulled or enduring freezing temperature.
