Should Toronto bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics?
Pan Ams have sold over 1,000,000 tickets in Toronto
With the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games being such a success so far, questions have arose about whether Canada's biggest city should make a third bid at landing the Summer Olympics.
The variety of new infrastructure built for the Pan Ams is more than a good start to the venues that would be needed to host the Olympics.
While the 2020 Summer Games already have been awarded to Tokyo, Toronto's possible bid could be for the 2024 games, giving the city two years to put together a presentation.
Toronto is expected to be competing with the likes of Boston and Budapest to host the event.
One of the main concerns before the Pan Ams was if Toronto would be able to handle the traffic, especially entering the downtown area. However, since the locations of the venues have been spread out and placed in locations like Scarborough, Markham, and Milton, there haven't been too many congestion issues.
The hype has also been built up throughout the games with more tickets being sold and prices and demand rising, along with viewership numbers going up.
Ontario's capital has passed with flying colours in providing a spectacle in Canada's largest ever multi-sport games, with over 6,000 athletes participating.
Toronto has attempted to land the summer games five times, but most recently losing out to Atlanta in hosting the 1996 games, and once again losing to Beijing for the rights to hosting the 2008 games.
With that, it raises the question, Should Toronto give it another chance, and bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics?
