Habs' Komisarek out for another month
Defenceman Mike Komisarek will be out of the lineup for at least another month, the Montreal Canadiens said on Friday.
Komisarek has already missed four games with a shoulder injury. He was injured in Boston on Nov. 13 during a fight with Milan Lucic of the Bruins.
Coach Guy Carbonneau confirmed the long-term nature of the injury. The Canadiens currently have seven other defencemen on the roster. Veteran Patrice Brisebois has often played right wing recently.
Komisarek had one goal and was a plus-3 through 14 games. The six-foot-five West Islip, N.Y., native has established himself over the previous two seasons as the club's most physical defender.
The two clubs meet again in Montreal, part of Hockey Night in Canada's Original Six Saturday broadcast (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 6:30 p.m. ET).
The Canadiens salvaged a 3-2 shootout win on Thursday over the struggling Ottawa Senators. It was just the third win in eight games for Montreal.
