Flames pick up Rene Bourque
The Calgary Flames acquired Alberta native Rene Bourque from the Chicago Blackhawks in a trade Tuesday as general manager Darryl Sutter continues to make over his club.
The Blackhawks obtained a conditional second-round pick from Calgary for Bourque, who will turn 27 next season.
The six-foot-two left-winger has scored 33 goals and 42 assists in 183 NHL games, all with Chicago. Born in Lac La Biche, Alta., Bourque has scored six short-handed goals over the past two seasons.
"Rene is a young player with size who will play in our top nine forwards," Sutter said in a statement. "He will be an important part of the remaking of our left side along with other young players already under contract."
Sutter acquired Mike Cammalleri from Los Angeles on draft day two weeks ago and sent Alex Tanguay to Montreal. It is also believed that Kristian Huselius and Curtis Joseph will not be back with the Flames.
