Germans take top 2 spots in women's bobsleigh

Bobsleigh pair Anja Schneiderheinze and Lisette Thoene led a German 1-2 finish at the first World Cup race of the season at Igls, Austria.

They were fastest in both runs and finished in an aggregate time of one minute, 47.26 seconds to beat defending overall World Cup champions Sandra Kiriasis and Petra Lammert by 0.18.

Elana Meyers and Katie Eberling of the United States shared third with Christina Hengster and Inga Versen of Austria, trailing the winners by 0.56.

Calgary's Kaillie Humphries and Emily Baadsvik were seventh in 1:48.16.

A two-men bobsleigh race on the Olympia track is scheduled for Saturday.
