Contador deflates in Vuelta de Castilla and Leon

Savini won the 157.2-kilometre (98-mile) leg in a time of 3 hours, 58 minutes, 25 seconds to edge Bauke Mollema of Rabobank and Colnago-CSF Inox teammate Domenico Pozzovivo.

Contador, a three-time champion who was hoping to defend his title, finished nearly three minutes behind Savini.

Mollema is the new overall leader by three seconds with an overall time of 13:17.52.
