It's official: The Toronto Blue Jays secured a second straight post-season berth after the Detroit Tigers lost to the Atlanta Braves.

Clinching a wild-card spot due to a Tigers loss carried a lot more meaning than you might think.

During the 1987 MLB season, the Jays held a 3½-game advantage over the Tigers with a week to play. Then the Jays' worst nightmare came true when they rattled off seven straight losses to end the season.

For added insult, Detroit swept Toronto at Tiger Stadium to win the division.

In 2016, Blue Jays fans are elated with the Detroit Tigers...for losing.

In addition to securing a wild-card spot in the American League, the Blue Jays will be playing at home on Tuesday night.

For now, some members of the team are enjoying their moment while poppin' bottles.
