IsKwé picks some of her favourite musical talent
IsKwé picks some of her favourite musical talent. Many artists have helped IsKwé form her passion for music over the years.
Here's some of her favourites:
Cris Derksen
Smile at Me
IsKwé said she first heard the song on CBC's documentary series 8th Fire. After hearing the song, she said she felt inspired.
"It really hit my heart and I really love the way she as an artist blends classical music with electronic sounds."
Kinnie Starr
Another's Gone
The song is a remake of Another One Bites the Dust by Queen.
For IsKwé, she found an appreciation for Starr because of the new ground she's battled as an Indigenous female emcee.
She said the song makes her feel relaxed but also leaves her questing something at the same time.
"It just kind of gives this spooky quality."
"I love that feeling. it's something that makes me think that there's something more to it than meets the eye."
Other favourites
IsKwé also pulls inspiration from Kristi Lane Sinclair and Saulteaux singer Jayli Wolf and her husband and musical partner Hayden John Wolf.
