Hoffman stopped by The Next Chapter to talk about her latest bedside book.

"It is a collection of poems, but I read it all through as if it's one long story because it feels that way. It weaves together a bunch of different storylines of the people living by the ocean, and also the ocean itself as its own entity.

The reason I started reading the book is because it was given to me by a friend. But the reason I kept reading it was because, within a few poems, it described some things about the ocean that I've felt for so long and never really had the way to put it into words specifically.

"This collection of poems has taught me more about myself than any book that I've read in a very long time —  while also making me laugh out loud and giving me the opportunity to to read out loud to people that I love."

Leanne Hoffman's comments have been edited for length and clarity.
