Westminster Books's Janet North on the cookbooks that are popular in her Fredericton store
This interview originally aired on Dec. 7, 2019.
Janet North is co-owner and store manager of Westminster Books, an independent bookstore located in downtown Fredericton.
The New Brunswick store carries a range of fiction and nonfiction titles and North says cookbooks are much-requested items.
She checked in with The Next Chapter to discuss the cookbooks that have done "exceptionally well" at the store.
Yum & Yummer by Greta Podleski
"It's a great book because it's got a little bit of everything in it.
"It also has lots of hints; if you don't have a certain ingredient, you can substitute it with something else. And there are beautiful pictures for every recipe."
Oh She Glows Every Day by Angela Liddon
"This is a vegetarian book that sells really well.
"It's a lovely book that gives you everything from breakfast suggestions right through to the end of the day."
The Acadian Kitchen by Alain Bossé
"Alain Bossé, also known as 'The Kilted Chef,' gives you a history of the Acadians, starting in 1604.
"He goes into Acadian recipes that are old and new. He has appetizers, soups, salads and more. The photographs are lovely as well."
Janet North's comments have been edited for length and clarity.
