The short story collection that perfectly captures Lesley Choyce's Nova Scotia
The author of 90 books explains why Alistair MacLeod's collection Island best captures his part of Canada.
Lesley Choyce is from Lawrencetown, N.S. and is the author of 90 books and counting, the most recent being The Unlikely Redemption of John Alexander MacNeil. Here's why he thinks Alistair MacLeod's short stories in Island best capture his province, Nova Scotia..
The book that captures my part of the country the best is Island by Alistair MacLeod, which is a collection of his short stories. The writing is just so beautiful, the descriptions so perfect, the characters so deep and it just has an overall feeling of beauty and sadness and energy that is the Nova Scotia that I know and love.
