Marilyn Dumont on connecting to her Métis heritage through poetry
Words take the place of those colourful little seeds for Marilyn Dumont. By weaving words together in her poetry, she forges a link to her Cree/Métis heritage.
In her latest book of poetry, The Pemmican Eaters, Marilyn Dumont weaves words with tradition and history to forge a connection with her Cree/Métis heritage. Many are lyrical celebrations of cultural traditions, while others go back in time to the days of Louis Riel, Gabriel Dumont, and the Métis rebellions of 1869 and 1885. This interview was originally broadcast on October 26, 2015.
