Ryan Marshall is a member of Canadian alternative rock band Walk off the Earth. He is currently reading the 1974 classic Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig. This interview originally aired on June 25, 2016.

There's two people existing in this book — there's his sane mind, and there's also his schizophrenic mind. But the whole time, you're trying to figure out if the sane mind is actually the insane one. It's up to you to decide. The whole journey takes place on a motorcycle trip across the United States and it's a heck of an adventure and it's really cool. It reminds me of when you're writing a song, obviously it means something to you. But when someone else reads the lyrics or they listen to this song, it doesn't necessarily portray to them the same meaning that it meant to you when you were writing it.

Ryan Marshall's comments have been edited and condensed.
