Hundreds of soldiers, dignitaries and citizens gathered at the National War Memorial in downtown Ottawa this week to mark the first anniversary of the shootings at the memorial and inside Parliament Hill, and the deaths of two soldiers on home soil.

Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot while standing guard at the National War Memorial. That was two days after Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent was struck in a targeted but unrelated hit-and-run in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

It's impossible to forget the sounds and images of gunfire ringing through the halls of Centre Block from October 22, 2014.

Here's the special edition of The House we produced that week featuring NDP staffer Greta Levy, Conservative MP Erin O'Toole, Liberal MP Scott Brison and NDP MP Megan Leslie who were either inside or just outside Centre Block that morning.

NDP MP Megan Leslie describes Wednesday's events on Parliament Hill from her perspective.
