The new pipeline roadmap for Canada
This week on The House mid-week podcast, after pipeline politics dominated the first few days of Parliament's return, Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr and Environment Minister Catherine McKenna announced Wednesday that the government is launching an interim review process that will impose more steps on projects such as Kinder Morgan's Trans Mountain and TransCanada's Energy East pipelines before they can be built. Green Party leader Elizabeth May joins to discuss the government's plan.
We also talk to the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme, Achim Steiner, about some of the challenges Canada will face given the commitments made at the Paris Climate Change Conference. The President of Canada's largest private sector union, Unifor's Jerry Dias, joins us with his take.
