Today on The Current

Matt Galloway is in Poland this week, talking to Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion. He talks to guest host Duncan McCue about what he's seeing and the people travelling long distances to help.

Plus, the West has upped the ante on sanctions against Russian oligarchs — but some experts say it won't be enough to change Vladimir Putin's mind. Casey Michel, author of American Kleptocracy: How the U.S. Created the World's Greatest Money Laundering Scheme in History, explains why more financial transparency reform is needed.

Then, how do you talk to kids about the war in Ukraine, while making them feel safe? We talk to Constantine Kosyachkov, a Toronto elementary school teacher who has family in Ukraine; and Ane Lemche, a psychologist and child counsellor with Save the Children.

Also, Rodney Stotts is one of the few Black master falconers in North America. He talks to Duncan McCue about his journey to become one — and why access to nature can change lives.

And Tuesday marks 100 years since Agnes Macphail took her seat as the first woman elected to the House of Commons. Curator of the House of Commons Johanna Mizgala joins us to discuss Macphail's career and legacy.
