Some sad news for all of us at CBC, as we've lost a member of our radio family this week.

Peter Kavanagh worked as a producer at CBC for more than 25 years, on shows including Morningside, This Morning, Ideas, and The Sunday Edition.

He was a brilliant and endlessly curious producer, who retired just two years ago.  He was also an author of several books, including last year's memoir, The Man Who Learned to Walk Three Times.

The Current gave the last word today to Peter Kavanagh from an interview he had with The Next Chapter's Shelagh Rogers. In this excerpt, Peter shares his reflections on polio, the disease  he was diagnosed with at the height of the epidemic in 1953.

Peter Kavanagh died on Sept. 7, 2016, of esophageal cancer.

He will be missed.
