Domestic violence review should include family killings, Farrah Khan

Ontario has mandated all deaths related to domestic violence be reviewed. While Farrah Khan, who works to address violence against women in Ontario, praises the effect the death review process has had, she hopes it will include more types of cases.

Last Friday, we heard from the sister of Shirley Parkinson, a Saskatchewan woman who was killed by her husband of 27-years. And now her siblings are demanding that the province treat deaths such as Shirley's differently in the hopes of preventing further tragedies. 

In our segment we also pointed to Ontario's mandate to review all deaths related to domestic violence.

After the program aired we received an email from a listener who works to address violence against women in Ontario. She praised the effect that this death review process has had but hopes that it will be expanded to include other cases of domestic abuse.
