Today on The Current:

Anti-racism protests in Portland, Oregon and Kenosha, Wisconsin turned deadly over the last week. Two separate shootings have left three people dead. These latest protests against police brutality were triggered after a police officer shot a Black man, Jacob Blake, in Kenosha, leaving him paralyzed. But far right groups have come to both cities to combat Black Lives Matter protesters. Corey Prince, a community organizer in Wisconsin and researcher Sam Jackson help us understand who these right wing extremists are.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced two new deals with U.S. drug makers developing potential COVID-19 vaccines yesterday. Canada has now inked agreements with four producers of front-running vaccine candidates. André Picard, a Globe and Mail's health columnist, explains these latest COVID-19 vaccine developments.
