Kurdish Foreign Minister pleas with Canada to keep military presence in Kurdistan

Kurdistan's Foreign Minister Falah Mustafa Bakir hopes Canada will reconsider pulling out of the anti-ISIS bombing mission. He wants the Liberal government to know that the airstrikes have been effective and has helped save lives and destroy the enemy.

Canada's decision to withdraw its fighter jets from the campaign against ISIS in Syria and Iraq -- even as other countries are stepping up their bombings -- hasn't just provoked debate here at home.

It's a decision that's been noted and discussed around the world.

One voice we wanted to add to the discussion is that of Falah Mustafa Bakir, of the Kurdistan Regional Government. Mr. Bakir heads their government's Department of Foreign Relations. He wants the Liberal government to know that the airstrikes have been effective and has helped save lives and destroy the enemy. He hopes Canada will reconsider pulling out of the anti-ISIS bombing mission.

Falah Mustafa Bakir is in Canada this week and joined Piya Chattopadhyay in our Toronto studio.
