CCDI report finds workplaces are not inclusive for LGBT employees

Many Canadian LGBT employees are uncomfortable about disclosing their sexuality and gender identity at work. That is one of the findings of a new report by the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion or CCDI. We speak to CCDI's Chief Executive Officer to find out more about the findings of this study.

Many Canadians, who identify as LGBT, are not comfortable disclosing their sexuality and gender identity at work. That is one of the findings of a new report by the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion or CCDI.

The report is one of the largest of its kind and was based on responses from 1,400 Canadians across the country.

While business, companies and organizations might officially allow employees to identify as LGBT, it seems only 1 percent or 2 per cent actually do.

Michael Bach is the Chief Executive Officer of CCDI and he says employers across the country need to be doing much more to make the workplace more inclusive for LGBT employees. He joined us in our Toronto studio.
