Today on The Current:

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has unveiled what he calls an "ambitious and achievable" new plan to tackle climate change — but can Canada break a streak of missing targets like these? Matt Galloway talks to Catherine Abreu, founder and executive director of the advocacy group Destination Zero and a member of Canada's Net Zero Advisory Body; and Mark Jaccard, director of the School of Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University.

Then, millions have fled war in Ukraine, but many people with disabilities cannot escape, or in some cases can't quickly reach bomb shelters. We hear from Yulia Klepets in Kyiv, whose daughter has autism and elderly mother uses a wheelchair; and Yulia Gorbunova, a senior researcher for Human Rights Watch, focusing on Ukraine.

And what do we need to navigate the next pandemic? Epidemiologist Dr. Sandro Galea, author of The Contagion Next Time, argues we need to change how we think about health, and pay attention to the structural inequalities that left the world so exposed to COVID-19.
