Today on The Current:

A group of ice scientists who've been studying the Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica have reported that the glacier is closer to potential collapse than previously thought. Jeff Goodell, who first nicknamed it the "Doomsday Glacier," tells us about the environmental and societal impacts the glacier's collapse could have. He's a journalist and the author of The Water Will Come: Rising Seas, Sinking Cities, and the Remaking of the Civilized World.

Then, 135 Canadians were honoured with an appointment to the Order of Canada last week. Among those Canadians were Indigenous trailblazer Gail Cyr and disability activist and humourist David Roche. They spoke with us about their contributions to Canada.

And from record-breaking case counts to provincial lockdowns, it's been an exhausting few weeks for Canadians, especially health-care workers. We speak with three health-care workers across Canada about dealing with Omicron and shutdowns. Dr. Srinivas Murthy is a critical care specialist and Canada's research chair in pandemic preparedness at the University of British Columbia; Dr. Lisa Salamon is an ER physician at the Scarborough Health Network; and Dr. Matthew Oughton is an attending physician in the division of Infectious Diseases at Montreal's Jewish General Hospital.
