Today on The Current:

Just 17 months after he became leader of Canada's Conservative Party, Erin O'Toole was voted out Wednesday. Matt Galloway talks about what comes next for the party, with Tasha Kheiriddin, a principal with the public relations company Navigator and a columnist with Post Media; Shakir Chambers, a principal at Earnscliffe Strategies, who worked in the Prime Minister's Office under Stephen Harper; and Monte Solberg, a former Conservative MP and cabinet minister, and current CEO of New West Public Affairs.

Plus, rates for routine vaccinations have declined during the pandemic — both for childhood inoculations and things like flu shots for seniors. We discuss how Canada can get back on track — and the risks we face if we don't — with public health physician Dr. Jia Hu; and Laura Tamblyn Watts, CEO of CanAge, the national seniors' advocacy organization.

And more than half of all food produced in Canada goes to waste. We discuss where that waste occurs and how to reduce it, with Lori Nikkel, CEO of food rescue organization Second Harvest; and Tammara Soma, research director and co-founder of the Food Systems Lab at Simon Fraser University.
