Today on The Current:

  • Japan's move to resume commercial whaling is making waves among conservationists. We speak with two whale advocates with different perspectives about how Japan's decision could impact the 89 remaining members of the International Whaling Commission.
  • Mohammad Amin Sadiqi has crossed two borders illegally in his life: once as a child, leaving his native Afghanistan for Iran, and once this past summer, into Canada from the United States. Sadiqi speaks with The Current about what the word "illegal" means to him — and why he chose to enter Canada the way he did.
  • We revisit our conversation with Monty Python alumnus Michael Palin about Erebus, his book on the fate of the Franklin expedition and the enduring fascination with the lost ship.
