Today on The Current:

  • The El Paso shooting, which left 22 dead and dozens wounded on Saturday, has renewed the spotlight on far-right forums and calls for their elimination. The gunman apparently wrote an anti-immigrant screed and posted it on the online message board 8chan just minutes before opening fire with an AK-47-style rifle on Walmart shoppers — many of them Hispanic. The racist manifesto remains the focus of police investigating the massacre and others demanding the site shut down for allegedly stoking terrorist radicalization and violent extremism online.
  • Kerrie Brown's murder still haunts her family three decades later as they search for answers. The CBC podcast Someone Knows Something hears why mysterious behaviour and comments over the years have left family members wondering if someone close to Brown may be responsible for her death.
