Today on The Current:

  • Operation Not Forgotten, a refugee-led initiative, is aiming to sponsor up to 200 migrants detained in Australian-run offshore detention centres on Manus and Nauru islands to resettle in Canada. We hear from Iranian refugee Amir Taghinia, who spent more than four years detained on Manus Island, about the deplorable conditions in these facilities.
  • We continue with the CBC podcast Someone Knows Something, where host David Ridgen confronts Fred Spence about the 1986 unsolved murder of Kerrie Brown. An old acquaintance alleges Spence, who lived on a reserve near Thompson, Man., told him years ago that he was part of a group that killed a white girl.
