The federal government has announced Canada's plan for our future in space and while some are optimistic the plan will solidify our role as players in the development of space ... others worry Canada needs to redefine our vision and goals to make sure we are still contenders in space exploration. What is the best plan for Canada's future in space?


Federal Minister of Industry James Moore, oversees the Canadian Space Agency. This February Minister Moore rolled-out "Canada's Space Policy Framework" ... mapping out Canada's next moves for exploration, commercialization and development in space.

Funding choices must always be made carefully -- but funding space exploration demands special caution since there really is a universe of options.

Elizabeth Howell is a Space and Science journalist who contributes to Universe Today, Space.com, and NASA Astrobiology Magazine.


As far as we know, there are no nearby alien civilizations to disturb. But some believe that doesn't mean explorers can treat the universe like they own the place.

Anthony Weston is a professor of philosophy and environmental studies at Elon University. He is also the author of Mobilizing the Green Imagination in which he dedicates a chapter on space exploration.
