A long time ago, people who called themselves aeronauts were leaving the earth for a quick look around and beginning the exploration of the sky.

Richard Holmes has documented the curious history of ballooning ... the ways it's shaped the world and the fascinating people devoted to the first flying devices. We spoke with Richard Holmes earlier this year on the release of his book "Falling Upwards: How We Took To The Air." He was Norwich, England.
