If the truth is out there in the U.S., what will it mean for Canada?
U.S. Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton says if she's elected, she'll make the government release information on UFOs and Area 51.
A number of times during her campaign, she and her campaign chair, a former White House chief of staff and known alien buff named John Podesta, have said they plan to open up the US government's equivalent of the X-Files.
I would like us to go into those files and hopefully make as much of that public as possible. If there's nothing there then let's let people know there's nothing there.- Hillary Clinton, appearing on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'
The campaign promise has excited some UFO interest groups in Canada, according to Chris Rutkowski, a science writer and compiler of the annual Canadian UFO survey.
There are certainly some Canadian UFO buffs who are finding this very fascinating and riveting.... that are hanging on to her every word and thinking that 'this is it - this is the day that's coming when we're going to find out everything there is to know about aliens and UFOs and the connection to the United States government'- Chris Rutkowski, Canadian writer
Chris is a little less excited that that, as he feels Clinton's comments about UFOs are more political strategy than a genuine interest in extraterrestrial phenomena.
I suspect there's really nothing there that's worth it. Although, I can see the argument that if she gets into office she'll throw a bone and perhaps find a few files here and there just to appease some people and that will continue to fuel the energy for many years to come.- Chris Rutkowski
