Donor who gave up a kidney, supports market for organs

Bob McRae is a listener to The 180 who heard about the election platform of the purely hypothetical "Economist Party" on our show. McRae tells us he donated a kidney for the good of a fellow human, and he'd do it again. At the same time, he supports the idea that others should get paid.

Bob McRae is a listener to The 180 who heard about the election platform of the purely hypothetical "Economist Party" on our show.

One of the party's imaginary campaign promises would be to support ways to increase the supply of human organs for donation. One suggestion might be paying donors.

McRae tells us he donated a kidney to a stranger, simply for the philanthropic fulfillment he got for helping a fellow human, and he'd do it again for free in a moment.

At the same time,  he supports the idea that others should get paid.

He sent us a letter, and we called him up to find out more.
