Thanks to an election promise from the incoming Liberals, advocates for electoral reform are already celebrating the death of our first-past-the-post system of electing MPs, and imagining what the country will look like without it.
They imagine a truly democratic future for Canada, where voters are liberated to vote for the party of their choice.
But when political scientist Christopher Kam hears those arguments, he hears a failure of political logic.
