K.D. Miller has had it with the sanitized, talcum-powdered version of spirituality that exists in the minds of many people. The writer believes our spiritual selves and sexual selves intertwine in the most intimate ways. "Sometimes, as I'm doing readings, I introduce by saying, 'I guarantee there is sex and violence in this book. You will get your money's worth.'"

Mary Hynes talks to K.D. Miller about her collection of short stories All Saints.

Miller has also written a spiritual memoir and she teaches other people how to write about their own spiritual path - no religious stirrings required. If you're trying to find the words to describe what you believe, Miller doles out some advice on how you can get started.
