Inside the Konko Church of Vancouver

Reverend Roderick Hashimoto of the Konko Church studied theology in Japan. He was asked to move to Vancouver 28 years ago to serve the community's spiritual needs. He's been there ever since. 

The Konko faith is a form of sectarian Shinto. It's roots are founded in similar principles, but Konko has evolved as its own religion with its own beliefs and rituals. 

Reverend Hashimoto's role in the rituals he performs is to help people make their petitions, which fall into one of the categories of "appreciation, apology, and requests."
