Remembering Bob Robertson

We share two of the late Bob Robertson's uncanny impersonations from the CBC Radio program, Double Exposure.

We were sad to lose two broadcasting giants this week.

Betty Kennedy was the only female panelist on TV's Front Page Challenge for 33 years. She died on March 20, 2017.

Bob Robertson died the day before. He and his wife Linda Cullen were the comic duo Double Exposure, which had a decade-long run on CBC Radio.

Ms. Kennedy was a pioneer, landing her first newspaper job when she was a teenager by insisting to the editor that she could do anything a boy could do. On radio and television, she became known for her ability to ask pointed, difficult questions with calm and empathy.

Bob Robertson was a masterful political satirist. Every week from 1987 to 1997, CBC Radio listeners were treated to a brilliant, irreverent, laugh-out-loud half hour of topical skits, music and cheeky impersonations. We unearthed a couple of gems from the CBC archives; Bob's impersonations of two former prime ministers: Joe Clark as "Canada Joe" and Jean Chretien as "Big Bad Jean."
