I hear music in the MRI
"Each time they take a picture of my brain, it sounds like a different song to me."
Many people report that they hear nothing but a cacophony of sound when they get an MRI scan. But others hear music. Spark Senior Producer Michelle Parise is one of them. She shares her experiences of the music she hears while inside the MRI machine.
She also talks to Rick Hoge, Director of the MRI Core Facility at McGill University to find out what makes the magnets so musical, and why they are beautiful and rhythmic to some people and nothing but a clanging, banging, irritation to others.
