Episode eleven: Terminus
A cold case is like a lakebed, with the truth lying somewhere beneath layers of sediment.
If you want answers, you'll have to reach down through years of leaves and muck.
You might get lucky and find something, especially if you know where to look.
But you're just as likely to only stir up the silt, further clouding your view.
In Episode 11 of SKS, our season finale, David Ridgen sets about tying up loose ends and taking stock of what we've accomplished so far.
Certain leads have taken us to dead ends, others have only raised more questions, but we did learn a lot of things that were previously unknown.
The investigation is yet to discover what happened to Adrien McNaughton on June 12, 1972.
But the case is closer to being solved than ever before.
And there are still a few avenues left open to keep the search alive.
In a case that has spent so much time trying to catch a glimpse of the distant past, maybe it's finally time to look to the future.
A terminus is an end of something, and this is indeed the end of regularly released episodes for season one of SKS focusing on Adrien's case.
If new leads or revelations are discovered, we'll definitely provide an update.
And we'll be back with a new season, investigating a new case, in the fall.
A terminus might mean the last station in a transportation route, the end of the line, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the journey is over.
As anyone who's lived in rural areas knows, the train or bus lines often end a long way before your final destination.
Where there is no public transport, you try to hitch a ride. Where the roads end, you have to set out on foot. And when you reach a lake, sometimes you've got to dive in.
