One of the ships from the ill-fated Franklin expedition has been discovered in the Arctic.

The fate of the Franklin expedition has fascinated many Canadians since Captain Sir John Franklin's 1845 journey to find the Northwest Passage with two ships and 129 men - all lost in the Arctic.  Many other expeditions over the last 160 years have searched for evidence that would explain Franklin's fate, and relics and graves have been found, but the location of the ships remained lost in history.  But now, a multi-year expedition, including searchers from Parks Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard, the Nunavut Government and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, has found one of Franklin's ships, lying in shallow water off a small Arctic island.  John Geiger, the Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, was part of the successful expedition.
