Gord Downie was both a musician and a great poet. In 2001, he put out a book of poetry called Coke Machine Glow. Publisher Louise Dennys worked closely with him on that project.

Today, she shares her fondest memories of working with Downie and explains why his poetry was just as powerful as his songwriting. She says: "If you want to know what it felt like to be a travelling performer with Gord Downie, you only have to read his poetry because it's all there."
