Sometimes, if you have enough talent, the world finds you. The world found Memphis-based singer-songwriter Julien Baker after she recorded an EP called Sprained Ankle in 2015. What was a simple bedroom recording turned out to be one of the biggest critical successes of the year and it took the young singer from obscurity to the stage. Each venue she performed at was bigger than the last. A larger venue is noticeable for Baker because she usually performs all on her own. Her performances are as bare and exposed as her music.

Now she's back with her new album, Turn Out the Lights (out now), and the stakes are as high as ever and this time there's an audience waiting. Baker is ready for them.

Today, Baker will perform songs from her new album live in the q studio.
