As the saying goes, first impressions are everything. Consider Julian Dennison, a 15-year-old actor from New Zealand. The first time most fans saw him on screen, he was stealing potato chips and setting fire to a mailbox in the instant cult-favourite Hunt for the Wilderpeople, about a kid on the run from social services.

That film was a critical hit that left a lot of people wondering: who is this kid? One of those people was Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds. After seeing Dennison in that movie, Reynolds just knew he had to work with him. And just like that, Dennison was thrust into the Marvel Universe opposite Reynolds in Deadpool 2. That is the power of a first impression.

Dennison joined Tom Power from New York City, where he was hanging out with his family ahead of the premiere of Deadpool 2. The film hits theatres across Canada on Friday, May 18.
