Kate Spade was the ultimate New York woman and fashion designer
Our fashion contributor tells us what made Kate Spade an iconic name in the fashion world and why her brand was unique.
Fashion designer Kate Spade has died at the age of 55 in an apparent suicide, according to police.
Spade became internationally famous after founding her namesake brand in 1993. She was known for using bright colours in her preppy, ultra-feminine clothing and accessories, but her handbags are what made her a household name.
Spade eventually sold her brand, but she remained active as a designer, establishing another label, called Frances Valentine, in 2016. Today, you can find everything from stationary to jewellery to iPhone cases under her name.
On today's show, q fashion contributor Mosha Lundström Halbert joins Tom Power live from Birmingham, England to tell us more about Spade's life and legacy.
