Kendrick Scott's gateway to the legendary jazz label Blue Note Records
Blue Note Records is a jazz label with a huge legacy. Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Thelonious Monk and Herbie Hancock have all recorded for the label, which turns 80 this year.
To mark the occasion and the release of a new documentary called Blue Note Records: Beyond the Notes, musician Kendrick Scott gives us a gateway to the legendary label and tells us why it has such an important legacy.
Scott is a drummer with the Blue Note All-Stars and he has his own band called Kendrick Scott Oracle. You can catch Kendrick Scott Oracle at this year's Montreal Jazz Festival.
The documentary Blue Note Records: Beyond the Notes opens in theatres in Winnipeg tonight and will be in Ottawa and Montreal next week.
