From Prince to Barenaked Ladies, engineer Susan Rogers shares stories behind your favourite albums
Back in the '80s, Susan Rogers was a sound engineer who worked on all of Prince's big records including Purple Rain, Parade and Sign O' The Times. She explains what it was like recording with Prince and shares some incredible stories from the studio.
When Susan Rogers was a child she felt sure about one thing: music was her calling. And after a 15-year career as a self-taught audio engineer, a career that began with the recording of Prince's Purple Rain and Sign o' the Times, and ended with her work on Stunt from Barenaked Ladies, Rogers left her calling to embark on a new journey. Now, after graduating from high school at 43 years-old, she teaches music cognition and psycho-acoustics at Boston's Berklee College of Music. Dr. Susan Rogers joins Tom Power for a chat about Prince, the Barenaked Ladies, and what her journey taught her about following your passions.
